Reporter: Maja, you are one of the best medical students in the world. Why did you decide to focus on proctology?
I don’t want to talk about it publicly, but the motivation here is purely personal. A few years ago my father died of colon cancer. At first everything was fine, the painful death came suddenly. Then I started studying proctology. I was shocked that most pharmaceutical drugs are unnecessary chemicals that destroy the entire body. My father used them every day.
For the past three years I have devoted myself entirely to this topic. The very method of removing hemorrhoids, which everyone is talking about now, was created during the writing of my thesis. I realized that I had come up with something new. But I could not believe that it could arouse such interest from various structures.
Journalist: As far as we know, they wanted to arrest you immediately after your discovery was published?
Yes, three days after my presentation at the conference. Fortunately, I was then contacted by the main staff of the Medical University of Belgrade. They also helped to resolve this situation.
Journalist: And what was the problem?
Some large companies in the market were concerned about my possible agreement with the University and other institutions to develop an innovative drug. At that time, it was already clear that this drug could completely relieve many people of hemorrhoids. As far as I know, hemorrhoid drugs are one of the most profitable segments of the market. No one wants to lose millions or billions because of a student. So they made a case against me. But they didn’t think I knew very well what to do in such situations and who to turn to. Once the lawyers took care of the case, they left me alone.
Journalist: After this incident, did the problems disappear?
There was no problem, but there was an attempt to buy my formula. As soon as the announcements about my method appeared, sales offers began to appear. The first to call were the French who offered me 120,000 euros. The last was an American pharmaceutical holding company that wanted to buy the preparation for a whopping 35 million dollars. Now I have changed all my information, I don’t go on social networks so as not to bother with all these offers.
Reporter: So you didn’t sell the formula?
Of course not. It may sound naive, but I did not create this formula for someone to use for their own needs. What will happen if I sell it? Journalist: What about medications? Pharmacies are full of hemorrhoid medications.
Yes, but they are all based on the principle described above. These drugs dilate blood vessels, damage their walls and overload the kidneys and heart. Yes, they relieve the symptoms of hemorrhoids, but only for a short time. In principle, they have a negative effect on the body, with their help it is impossible to get rid of hemorrhoids. Maya was right about that. When analyzing the composition, any expert will understand that they should not be taken at all.
Journalist: What is the name of the drug developed by Maya? Can you tell us something about it?
